How to Measure for a Bespoke Belt
A bespoke gun rig is load-bearing equipment, which means it is only as good as its fit.
Gun belts are crafted and measured entirely differently than a standard department store accessory. Please do not provide us with your pants size. Retail clothing relies on "vanity sizing," meaning a size 34 pant is rarely an actual 34 inches. If you order your pants size, your belt will not fit, and your gear will not carry correctly.
To ensure your belt is built with uncompromising precision, we require a "True Measurement." Grab a flexible tailor's tape measure and follow these three steps:
1. Wear Your Carry Gear Put on the exact style of pants and the typical layers you plan to wear with your gun belt.
2. Find Your Ride Height Gun rigs sit differently depending on the shooter. Wrap the measuring tape around your body exactly where you intend the belt to ride:
-
If you carry low on the hips, measure there.
-
If you carry high on the natural waist, measure there.
-
If this rig will sit directly over the top of a standard pants belt, wrap the tape measure directly over that existing belt.
3. Take the True Measurement Pull the tape measure snug, but do not cinch it aggressively tight. Record the exact number in inches. This is your True Measurement, and it is exactly where we will set the center hole of your new Hellhound belt, giving you plenty of adjustment room in either direction.
The Workshop Policy on Sizing
Because your belt is cut directly from the hide and custom-crafted specifically for the measurement you provide, we cannot accept returns or exchanges for sizing errors. If a belt needs to be completely rebuilt due to an inaccurate measurement provided at checkout, a recrafting fee will apply.
Measure twice, cut once.
If you have any hesitation about your numbers before placing your order, please call Gavin directly at 385-707-3751 and we will gladly walk you through it.
FULFILLMENT TIME
Hellhound gun leathers, belts and holsters, are works of art that are made to order and handcrafted one at a time in our workshop in Utah. These are not mass produced or made ahead of time and each holster is carefully hand cut and crafted to fit your firearm.
We are a very small, custom leather shop and due to high demand, our lead times have increased.
This item is made to order, so crafting and fulfillment time may take up to 20-24 weeks.
CUSTOMIZATION
**Regarding Cross Draw Holsters**
If you prefer a Cross Draw holster, please be aware that selecting the "Cross Draw" option will slightly alter the holster to accommodate for cross draw carry. The skirt of the holster will be shortened to the collar and widened at the belt loop to reduce twisting. Our standard cant for cross draw holsters is 20 degrees. If you would like more information on how a cross draw holster will appear or if you would like a sharper cant on your holster, please contact us.
We understand that purchasing a holster for your gun is a very personal process and we invite you to contact us with any questions, concerns or custom requests.
We are happy to take custom orders if you require modifications (such as cant degree or cross draw if you don't prefer a straight drop holster) that we do not list. If you would like to include a slight modification to your holster - Contact us for options!
